A Leather Piece

As I'm getting into the habit of blogging on a regular basis now, I thought I'd do yet another outfit post! I have a lot of ideas for my blog so I'm taking it at one step at a time.

I got this gorgeous top from an art/designer boutique in The Lanes in Brighton whilst out for the day wine tasting. The best part about this top is obviously the unique detail down the sides, wearing a bra with this top would completely ruin it and the feature's purpose (as you will probably see in some of the pictures haha!). Everything in this shop was SO expensive but I had a nice little rummage and managed to find this little number for a nicer looking price. One of those shops when there isn't an awful lot that you don't like, those kind of shops are extremely dangerous - but definitely makes you happy when you find one! They had another floor full of art but unfortunately it wasn't open at the time, which sucks as we are trying to hunt down some damn good art at the moment, although we did visit Art Republic at the time and they sell some incredible pieces there, one to remember 'fo sho'.

I'd like to say this is more of an evening look and only recently I've felt as though getting the leggies out is the only way for a night out; well not the only way, we all love a good classy pencil skirt/dress. I think it's because I don't tend to get them out fully during the day - especially with sky high heels anyway, which are an absolute godsend to make us girls feel so confident and good about ourselves. Some girls say that it's either boobs or legs but most of the time it's legs for me! I like to look sufficiently different when going out for the night, so a little more make up, high heels, jewellery - just making that little bit more effort goes a long way.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have finally realised that if I'm going out for hours on end I NEED a platform under my foot! Don't get me wrong I really love those strappy heels that I wore in my Easy Evening Wear post, but if I wear them in the evening until the early hours of the morning my feet are an utter wreck. They have no support directly under your foot so we're sort of asking for trouble aren't we? "Shoes for standing in" (as the mother always says!!), no question about it. I don't want to have to resort to wedges all the time because I find they can sometimes make your feet look really clumpy and heavy. I find stilettos look much more classy and sassy, they help with the whole long leg illusion! I tend to walk in higher heels better, if the heel's really small, I find it strangely hard, it's very weird. I needed these heels for a wedding I'm going to next week, it was such a difficult outfit to find shoes for as I kind of needed white shoes but I'm a bit sceptical of white because at times it can look quite tacky, so my last option was nude. Hopefully I can do an outfit post on it if I get ready in time, then I'll go into more detail.

These skirts are pure-chic-gold at the moment. They're amazing for statement pieces and create such a chic tone to your outfit. Everyone knows that if they're wearing an item of clothing that has a ton of detail or has a certain design to stand out, not to overdo with accessories, bright colours, make up, etc. "Before you leave the house, remove one piece" - Coco Chanel - great quote that needs to be in mind always! This is why I've chosen neutral colours to go with this skirt, it has so much detail and a nice feature with its asymmetrical longer part at the front; I wanted to keep it so it was all about the skirt. Making too many statements can only lead to a big fat disaster!

  1. You look fabulous. I love the skirt. The zipper details and the asymmetrical hemline make it such a stand-out piece. The top works so well with it because it is a neutral. I agree that too much detail in an outfit can be a bit much. Both pieces have an edge but the top and the skirt balance each other really well.
